Arcadis IBI Group's Technology Consulting Team focuses on providing solutions involving IMIT, communications, security and audio-visual systems to organizations that rely on enabling technology for its success.


Our Team is a group of specialists that has worked on thousands of technology projects and use that experience to design solutions that people love to use.

We primarily service a demand in sectors of the building industry such as healthcare, corrections and higher education, where technology is critical to their success in delivering their core services.

As such, these market sectors require a high level of expertise and experience in technology consulting and engineering that is not found in the current traditional engineering community.


We are seeking a talented
Technology Systems Specialist - Electrical Safety & Security to join our Global Technology Team for our Burnaby BC office.

This position will report to the Technology Systems Architect.

_This position has the flexibility of working from home as our projects are global and team members are located across North America and Europe.

Most of the things you'll work on:
  • Systems design of electronic safety & security systems including: access control, CCVT/DVMS, intrusion/threat detection, and panic/duress systems including:
  • Development of technical drawings and specifications for implementation/construction.
  • Develop electronic security systems based on:
  • consultation with clients;
- review of building and site design;
- industry best practices; and,
- when available based on physical security threat and risk assessments;

  • Develop security standard operating procedures and models;
  • Provide feedback to building designers from the safety and security perspective;
  • Draft technical design specifications of security solutions;
  • Develop drawings using Visio and CAD (an asset) including systems line diagrams,
  • Work with our Revit/CAD team to develop floor plans and elevations describing device placement;
  • Evaluation of technology equipment available in the industry for suitability of use in design solutions;
  • Liaise with design team including electrical, mechanical and architectural consultants;
  • Attend design meetings with clients and design team;
  • Assist in development of budgetary implementation costs;
  • Develop systems functionality narratives;
  • Conduct field reviews and Issue Site Reports

Qualifications:


What we are looking for:


  • 57 years of ESS technology systems experience, preferably gained within large institutional or large office clients and environments
  • Industry recognized designations including Security TQ, Licensed Security Consultant, CPP
  • Engineering/ Architectural / Construction Industry experience is beneficial
  • RCDD Certification an asset
  • Comfortable working with remote task assignment software programs
  • Familiarity and comfort in working in agile sprintbased team assignment and organizational structure
  • Must be highly capable with Microsoft Office programs, particularly Word and Excel
  • Experience working with design markup programs such as Visio, Bluebeam, CAD (AutoCAD and/or Revit) an asset
  • Ability to work with remote enabling technologies such as Microsoft Teams, Webex, Zoom, Go To Meeting etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills in working with internal and external stakeholders and clients as well as your remote team members
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Energetic, diplomatic, flexible, problemsolving mindset
  • Strong organizational and prioritizing skills with the ability to take initiative
