Education:
College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
- Experience: 5 years or more
Work setting:
- Animal hospital
Tasks:
- Administer treatments as prescribed by veterinarian
- Counsel clients on animal health care
- Produce diagnostic radiographs, collect samples and perform other laboratory tests
- Operate Xray, radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment, computerized tomography (CT) scanners, mammography units and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners
Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses:
- Registration by a provincial or territorial, or regional association as Registered Animal Health Technologist, Registered Veterinary Technician
