The Inland Tlingit community of Teslin is located on the picturesque shores of Teslin Lake in the southern Yukon at historical Mile 804 on the Alaska Highway.

Khàtìnas.àxh Community School serves 58 Early Kindergarten to Grade 9 students and offers an alternative high school program in a rural setting.

the majority of learners being citizens of the Teslin Tlingit Council First Nation (TTC).

The school has close connections to the community, with First Nations ways of knowing, doing and being embedded throughout the curriculum and learning environment.

**Qualifications and Experience: - Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:_

Bachelor of Education or equivalent; with a focus in middle school Grade 46 education
Teaching or preservice practice teaching experience in Grades 46 classrooms;
Teaching or preservice practice teaching experience teaching Physical Education;
Teaching experience or preservice practiceteaching with programming for diverse learners;
Experience teaching or preservice practice teaching experience with assessment for, as and of student learning;
Effective teaching or preservice practice teaching in literacy as evidenced by measured student learning;
Effective teaching or preservice practice teaching in numeracy as evidenced by measured student learning;
Experience teaching or preservice practice teaching experience with integrating Indigenous ways of knowing, doing and being into curriculum teaching, learning, and assessment;
Experience teaching or preservice practice teaching experience developing and implementing individual education plans and student support plans;

**Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability: - Strong classroom management, planning and organizational skills;

A commitment to inclusive education
Solid planning and organizational skills to create an inclusive framework for learning and development;
Commitment to continuous professional learning in pedagogy for Literacy, Numeracy, First Nations Culture and neuraldiverse learners;
A knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of the First Nations people of Yukon and a culturallydiverse student population;
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work positively with students, parents, staff members, administrators, First Nations leaders and citizens and consultants;
Willingness to participate fully in School Base Team planning for student success

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

To be a Teacher in Yukon, you must be certified in another Canadian province/territory first.
Successful applicants will be required to undergo a security/vulnerable sector check.
Relocation may be available.
