A leader in environmentally conscious water management solutions in Western Canada with offices in B.C.

and Alberta has need for a mechanically-inclined Field Technician with construction or water/wastewater experience to work up at our Site C Dam, Fort St John, BC water management project 50% of the time; and the other 50% of the time work on water management projects in metro Vancouver, Vancouver Island and Western Canada.


Site C Dam, Fort St


John, BC work:

We've been awarded a contract with a major Site C contractor who is building the concrete portion of the dam.

Specifically, our job is to supply water from the river through a series of pumps, thermally protected pipes, control systems and filters we've designed and installed to the construction site, uninterrupted, in order to support their construction activities.

We also collect and treat dirty surface water through ponds and tank systems where the water is cleaned and either re-used or discharged safely into the environment.


Although much of the process is automated, it requires someone to maintain the system, respond to changes and expansions and troubleshoot when problems show up in addition to working effectively with the contractor's employees.

This position is one of two Stormtec staff that work at Site C to provide coverage. The work rotation is 14 days on; 7 days out. Must be okay with living in camp at Site C.


When not at Site C, the person will be working on other water management projects in metro Vancouver and Western Canada:

  • Install, operate and maintain various pumping systems (i.e. bypass pumping, deep well and well point dewatering) as part of a team, on constructions sites. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Perform service on diesel pumps in a safe and effective manner
  • Perform hose/pipe testing and installation
  • Troubleshoot and repair various types of pumping equipment
  • Comprehend dewatering and fluid pumping systems, filtration system drawings
  • Perform duties safely to comply with safety regulations including the use of hand and power tools
  • Prepare Field Service Reports on time
  • Communicate with customers, contractors effectively

Skills and Related Experience

  • Minimum 2+ years of previous work experience preferably within the construction industry or experience in the water/wastewater industry.
  • Experience with various pumping systems (bypass pumping, deep well and well point dewatering).
  • Work well under pressure (internal and external), in a team and independently
  • Strong verbal and written English proficiency
  • Willingness to work overtime, on call, particularly during raining season
- (Water transfer, dewatering experience from oil & gas, fracking industry is ideal and we will pay more than stated hourly rate for this direct experience)

  • Highly desirable credentials include: Certified Telehandler/ Zoom Boom Operator license, Fall Protection, Basic Slinging and Rigging Course, Excavation Safety Training, up to date MSDS, TDG and WHIMIS
