Description:
The goal of the research is to understand physiologic and pathological processes underlying learning and memory, and to identify the mechanisms that contribute to a decline in brain function after anesthesia.
The long-term goal is to develop novel treatments that target subtypes of inhibitory receptors for cognitive disorders after anesthesia, as well as for inflammation-induced cognitive dysfunction and mood disorders.
The RA will assist in the preparation of research proposals for submission to granting agencies and will present research findings at local, national, and international conferences.
Qualifications
- PhD in biochemistry, neuroscience, or molecular biology
- 25 years of postdoctoral experience with demonstrated academic and research expertise in the fields of biochemistry, molecular biology, electrophysiology, and/or animal behavior
- Ability to design and conduct original and innovative research
- Strong scientific writing skills (manuscript preparation, grant writing, etc.).
- Strong experimental skills in biochemistry, molecular biology, protein and RNA analysis, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence are assets
- Strong communication and presentation skills
