Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board (HPEDSB) serves approximately 15,500 students each day at 39 schools (32 elementary, two K-12; four 7-12, one The district covers a beautiful geographic area of 7,220 square kilometers serving communities from the tip of Algonquin Park to the beautiful sandy shores of Lake Ontario._


Reporting to the Director of Education, this position is responsible for the day-to-day administrative and leadership requirements necessary to provide the effective and efficient operation of the board's business services functions.

The Superintendent of Business Services is an integral part of the Senior Leadership team and is Treasurer to the Board of Trustees.


The Superintendent of Business will:
- provide exceptional leadership in service to all students and schools through the lens of the Board's Strategic Plan (Pdf),
- possess exceptional skills and knowledge to demonstrate creative, innovative and forward looking leadership,
- create system coherence, build capacity and enhance practice and service,
- mentor, support, motivate and coach staff to meet or exceed expectations,
- successfully promote and lead innovation and change management,
- have the ability to navigate through complex, multi-stakeholder settings to build understanding and to gain consensus
- possess working knowledge of the Education Act, Policy Program Memorandum, other related legislation, and current best practices,
- have a capacity for personal growth, reflection and development.
- oversight of the Board's annual budget of more than $220 million;
- leadership in the areas of finance, facilities, purchasing, payroll/benefits, information technology and capital projects;
- ensuring safe, clean and modern school environments to optimize student learning;
- ensuring the efficient and effective use of resources to realize the strategic and operational plans of the Board;
- attending board and committee meetings and acting as the management representative on audit committee;
- representing management on the Tri-Board Student Transportation Consortium;
- monitoring the effectiveness of internal processes and to identify, plan and implement required changes (automating procedures, standardizing processes) in order to continuously improve accountability and service delivery;
- hold a CPA, CGA, CMA or equivalent designation;
- hold Business Supervisory Officer Qualifications (or who have a plan to attain in 2 years);
- have considerable experience in a senior financial management role within a public sector organization, preferably a Kindergarten to Grade 12 educational environment is preferred; and
- have knowledge, experience, and skills to support the Board's governance functions, labour relations and legal matters.


Salary:
$176,000
