Performs all tasks necessary to ensure efficient, accurate operation of water meters. Monitors meter equipment and installs and inspects residential, commercial, and industrial water meters. Inspects water services to ensure it meets the Town standards. Locate, inspect, clean, repair, test, calibrate and adjust water meter and related metering equipment. Correct plumbing and piping when required. Reports any discrepancies, broken meters or cases of suspected tampering issues to supervisor/manager. Enforces backflow requirements to ensure safety and integrity on the distribution system. Interfaces with multiple departments - Finance, Building, Engineering and By-Law.

How you contribute to our organization:

Performs meter reading functions to established schedules.
Ensures readings are done accurately and forwards to appropriate Finance personnel.
Investigates discrepancies and/or complaints by troubleshooting meter related issues, including meter accuracy verifications as required or as requested.
Performs maintenance and repairs to all residential, commercial and industrial billed water meters.
Sealing/resealing of residential, commercial and industrial billed water meters.
Inputs, maintains and updates water meter database and records.
Delivers notice to resident/owner related to water metering as required.
Inspects all water service installations as per Town standards drawing and plumbing code.
Operates/locates hydrants and curb stops.
Inspects Backflow Preventers and enforces cross connection bylaw, Town standards and B64 regulations.
Plumbing repairs when required.
Unblocking water services where low pressure exists.

What you bring to the team:

Grade 12 secondary school diploma
Water meter installer certificate.
Backflow and Cross-Connection Certification
Valid G driver's licence in good standing and ability to provide a clean driver's abstract upon hire.
Class I Water Distribution and Supply Certification is preferred.
23 years of experience working with water meters
Must be competent in performing pipe connections and plumbing repairs.

Pay Rate:
$ $37.86, plus employer paid benefits and OMERS pension plan

Hours:40 hours per week
