TransEd Valley line LRT is looking for a Facilities Maintenance Supervisor to join their team of rail professionals. Reporting to the Project Maintenance Manager the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor will provide leadership to planning, directing, and guiding the Maintenance and Operation of Facilities. Working with the Infrastructure Superintendent and the Asset Manager, this individual will ensure TransEd meets Commitments to our client (PA compliance) and Asset Management commitments of safety, asset stewardship, reliability, and cost. This leadership includes focus on Facilities (including OMF, Davies, Churchill, and all other Stops), and associated systems (including Power Distribution, Grey and Domestic Water, Lighting, HVAC, Building maintenance system).

Connecting Millwoods to downtown Edmonton, the valley line allows commuters to go from the South East of Edmonton to anywhere the LRT stops.


A typical day for the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor

Planning includes:
- providing technical expertise and oversight to contracts. Ensure subcontractors, project team members and all personnel meet OH&S obligations and perform work within our safety culture respecting HSE rules.
- ongoing preventative (PM), corrective (CM) and emergency maintenance (EM) on aforementioned infrastructure. This relates to inspections, test, commissioning, modifications, repairs, operation, and/or maintenance of equipment is completed to meet.

  • Planning for and provision of standby, emergency response resources.
  • Development and execution of contingency and emergency plans.
  • Monitoring, investigating, and reporting on asset performance.
  • Planning, engineering, and replacement of assets through capital maintenance programs.
  • Liaising with key stakeholders and their representatives including the City of Edmonton
  • Fulfillment of dayday operational commitments of the Facilities portion of the organization. This includes development of personnel objectives, monitoring, coaching and discipline.
  • Manage and monitor all corporate policies regarding the Facilities personnel.
  • Continuously provides input to the Project Maintenance Manager and the Asset Manager concerning opportunities for improvement, refinement of Policy and Procedure to ensure the efficiency of the organization.
  • Supervise the operation and maintenance of Facilities. Ensures all Facilities assets are effectively functional, reliable, and safely operated and maintained to meet customer expectations.
  • Provides leadership and direction to the team on HSE matters, technical issues, business evaluations, system improvements, maintenance strategies, resourcing strategies, contingency and emergency planning, performance evaluation and reporting, regulatory matters, etc.
  • Ensures the development of programs to appropriately maintain or extend the life of the Facilities assets.
  • Participates or leads as appropriate in departmental initiatives and work groups.
  • Responsible for providing and controlling the access to various facilities like stops / station / substation etc. to various stakeholders to perform their assigned work.
  • Evaluates historic and current Facility conditions and performance, assess current operating procedures and processes, and maintenance programs to consider their effectiveness. Provide recommendations to improve work practices.
  • Provides input into major capital projects and the development of construction and engineering standards and programs.
  • Leads in performing incident investigations, participate in the investigation of loss or near loss incidents by ensuring Engineering resources are examining equipment, gathering data, and determining root cause and making recommendations for prevention of future loss incidents.
  • Represents the work group regarding initiatives, projects, and sponsorships. Reviews projects' status and resolves operational issues.
  • Work with Project Maintenance Manager in maintaining capital and O+M expenditures for maintaining the Facilities (e.g., work methods, tools, vehicles, practices).
  • Manage the Human resources component of the Facilities Group. Oversees 23 employees and multiple contracts from a human resource perspective to achieve targets.
Administers the following on behalf of the work group:

  • Performance management program.
  • Training and development requirements. Ensures that staff receive required training to acquire and maintain business skills. Arranges for the technical, safety, and personal development training.
  • Staffing and termination initiatives.
  • Employee relations issues. Administers Union Agreements and related policies.
  • Coaches staff regarding quality of service or relationship issues and assists in any problem resolution process. Addresses employee performance issues.
