  • NVDPL is looking for a Temporary Full-Time, Technical Services Technician (Acquisitions) to cover a maternity leave in our Collections Services Department.

What you'll be doing

  • Aspects of the role will include:
  • Collections, acquisitions, and receiving all formats of library material
  • Liaising with Collection Selectors and other staff
  • Additional tasks as required, including processing, cataloguing and the possibility of public service desk work

What you'll need to succeed

  • Library & Information Technology Diploma from an accredited Library & Information Technology program or equivalent experience
  • Experience with acquisitions such as order entry, invoicing, approval plans, and working with vendors
  • Good organizational, communication, analytical and keyboarding skills: minimum proficiency: 50 wpm
  • Ability to work in a team environment which fosters innovation, collaboration and change, and delivers exceptional customer service
  • An understanding of and commitment to the principles of intellectual freedom & inclusiveness
  • Physical capacity to handle heavy library materials, sustain repetitive motions, and work at a computer workstation for extended periods of time

It's great if you have

  • Experience with teamwork and projects; ability to take initiative and ask for assistance
  • Understanding of a language other than English
  • Cataloguing experience
  • The hourly pay rate for this unionized position starts at $ rates) based on a 35hour workweek.

Compensation
