About the Opportunity:


The Procurement Assistant Manager provides leadership in the operation of a comprehensive Integrated Supply Chain service for Nova Scotia Health ensuring an efficient responsive high quality service that complies with policies and controls, aligns with strategic and operational planning, and delivers excellence in client relations.


The Procurement Assistant Manager is responsible for:

  • Supports managing relationships with customers promoting a first class environment of excellence and accountability
  • Buying operations processing tens of thousands of orders annually for customers across a zone
  • Ensures that controls and processes are in place to properly document the requisition of all goods, services and equipment within the zone.
  • Reviews order placement timing, supply / demand alignment, and material replenishment
  • Ensures that appropriate control mechanisms and reports are in place to manage remotely
  • Maintains relationships with suppliers
  • Supports the buying improvement process and recall process
  • Ensures that all buying functions comply with applicable policies and standards
  • Ensures that controls and processes are in place to manage access to the corporate procurement system
  • Develop education materials for key training initiatives
  • Supply training & support to procurement staff and clients for key training initiatives
  • Review and evaluate the effectiveness of key training initiatives for continuous improvements
  • Supports in the development of an annual strategic plan for the function, establishing priorities and allocating resources
  • Promote and monitor contract compliance across the zone
  • Supports HealthPRO initiatives in the zone and collaborates on HealthPRO issues provincially.
  • Participates in facility, zone and provincial strategic planning in relation to pandemic, mass casualty and all other hazard responses
  • Support managing procurement staff work load & time off requests
  • Ensures that adequate safety equipment and training is available to staff to provide a safe workplace

About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Undergraduate degree in business, science or engineering preferred
  • Recognized Professional Supply Chain Designation (CPP/SCMP or OIPMAC) is an asset
  • Minimum of Three (3) years' procurement experience with the supply chain activities of an organization required
  • Must have a minimum of Three (3) years' experience using SAP with the supply chain activities of an organization
  • Procurement experience in the acute healthcare sector an asset
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Coaches and motivates team members to optimize team effectiveness
  • Excellent communication skills along with strong financial, conceptual and analytical skills
  • Strong project management skills with ability to organize, control and coordinate a variety of activities in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent planning and organization skills
  • Possesses a solid understanding of supply chain process and key performance indicators
  • Experience with, and a high understanding of ITdriven supply chain
  • Ability to delegate issues to team leads and staff
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in working with health care practitioners
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Compensation and Incentives:

$ $36.80 Hourly
