As a Lead Distribution Associate, you will assist in the efficient and effective reclamation, processing and/or distribution of goods and donations. The incumbent will be knowledgeable of and strictly follow all legislative safety procedures.


Job Duties

  • Prioritize and assign tasks and follow up in the absence of the Distribution Manager/Supervisor
  • Provide backup supervision to the staff in the absence of the Distribution Manager/Supervisor
  • Process raw materials by unloading, sorting, packing, storing, loading, and baling the donations, ensuring integrity of the donations
  • Receive store fixtures and offseason product from stores and maintain accurate inventory
  • Receive bale and ragout from stores and ensure processing
  • Receive Corps donations and complete necessary paper/computer work
  • Ensure Trucks are loaded correctly for their assigned routes
  • Ensures that all team members work in compliance with Health & Safety legislation; use, wear and maintain personal protective equipment; report workplace hazards; and follow accident and injury reporting processes.
  • Attentive to the safe keeping of The Salvation Army property including donations
  • Ensures compliance with all provincial CVOR legislation
  • Greet donors courteously and accept donations at the Distribution and Recycling Centre
  • Tracks and records shipments of recyclable material sold and/or shipped to buyers and other DRC's
  • Select donations for store distribution while meeting established standards for quality
  • Meet assigned daily targets; count, weigh, and record incoming and outgoing donations
  • Operates standard warehouse equipment such as a baler, compactor, and pallet jack
  • Assists in maintaining a clean and organized Distribution and Recycling Centre

Lead Distribution Associate Skills and Qualifications

  • Two to five years' experience in a warehouse environment
  • 1 year leadership experience
  • Minimum grade 10 or equivalent
  • Physically capable of lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs on a frequent basis
  • Constant lifting, carrying, standing, walking, bending, and twisting
  • Will be required to be certified to operate warehouse equipment such as baler, compactor, forklift, and conveyor
  • Possess a valid Class 5 driver's license with clean drivers abstract with the ability to drive a 5ton truck
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments (exposure to heat, cold, dust, etc.)
  • Demonstrated trustworthiness and responsibility
  • Good written and oral English (French where required)
  • Flexible in work hours to achieve predetermined deadlines
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
