As a Field Machinist Lead in Pickering, Ontario, you will be part of the proven team in the Installed Base Business Unit.


Your work will include:

  • The Field Machinist Lead is responsible for oversight of the Canadian union craft in the set up and operation of a wide variety of portable machine tools to perform onsite machine work and repairs for the Bruce Unit 3 Steam Generator Replacement project.
  • Primary role is to provide technical training and oversight on the execution of field machining operations in accordance with the approved site and company procedures.
  • The Lead is directly responsible for technical oversight for the execution of services in accordance with the requirements of the site and Framatome process and procedures.
  • The Lead conducts training and development of the Canadian union craft to continuously improve their skills and levels of competence and knowledge.
  • Willing to work 67 days a week and up to a 12hour shift depending on the project's needs.
  • Passport required
  • Position is based out of Canada at Bruce Nuclear Power station.
  • Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection.
  • Ability to lift and carry 45 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk and climb except when performing nonfield duties.
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits employee to communicate effectively.
  • Sufficient vision or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodations, which permits employee to further investigate inadequate processes.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity with or without reasonable accommodation, which permit the employee to perform routine office duties.
  • Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodations to perform office duties and travel when necessary to offsite locations.
  • Sufficient personal mobility to maneuver within a plant environment to include the ability to gain access to elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells.
  • Work Conditions
  • Field duties require indoor and outdoor work in a nuclear plant atmosphere.
  • Interact with other crew employees, as well as supervisors and client personnel.
  • Working in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels
  • May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes.
  • Work areas are inside the containment building which may be radioactive and contaminated. Must be able to work in plastics or PAPRs.
  • Temperature inside containment may reach 360 C.
  • Will have to work in tight spaces while operating rotating equipment.
