POSITION PURPOSE


This position is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of marketing strategies that promote York Region as a destination of choice for business, innovation and talent through the York Link regional economic development platform, including the development of marketing activities and campaigns and the associated digital and print and promotional material.

Also responsible for supporting communication responses to emerging issues, and identifying communication opportunities that contribute to the effectiveness of York Link and related projects.

Liaises with the public, local municipalities, economic development organizations, industry associations and other partners and participates, promotes, and coordinates engagement activities.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates/works with stakeholders and follows the corporate strategic leadership, planning and direction related to this function.
  • Develops annual and projectspecific marketing plans and provides recommendations to program staff and the Manager on implementation.
  • Contributes to promoting and enhancing the York Link regional economic development platform locally and in select domestic and international markets through marketing communications, initiatives, and marketing campaigns.
  • Develops targeted marketing campaigns to promote the Region and its partners at domestic and international business events and conferences, trade shows, and business delegations, as required.
  • Coordinates joint marketing and promotional initiatives, projects and campaigns delivered in collaboration with local municipalities, local businesses, government organizations, industry stakeholders and other partners.
  • Works to identify opportunities to promote regional economic development activities and partnerships.
  • Monitors the marketing landscape related to the target audiences, industry sectors, markets, investment attraction partners and other relevant jurisdictions, and recommends promotional strategies to address emerging opportunities and threats; provides recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Liaises with, establishes, and fosters positive marketing relationships with local municipalities, regional, provincial, federal and international economic development organizations, industry associations and other partners, as required.
  • Assists with monitoring the performance and effectiveness of marketing and promotional activities, and prepares and delivers qualitative summary reports and presentations, as directed by the Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Marketing, Media and Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience in the design and delivery of business marketing and promotional activities, strategies and campaigns, including the development of initiatives to assist print, online and social media.
  • Demonstrated experience in the coordination of events, conferences and industry engagement.
  • Highly developed editing and writing skills to effectively communicate information to targeted audiences.
  • Strong organizational and problemsolving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise and deal positively and collaboratively with internal and external clients and public.
