The Role:


Reporting to the Director, Supply Chain Management the Manager, Warehouse Operations will lead a team of union and management employees that are responsible to ensure the effective organizing and directing of warehouse services and asset recovery activities, including customer service, materials handling, warehousing and inventory control.


This Manager provides leadership to 5 direct reports and over 50 indirect reports dispersed throughout 22 work locations throughout the City.

Major warehousing accountabilities include Fleet Services parts (Transit, LRT and Municipal, roadways, and emergency services).


Goals and deliverables:


  • Provide oversight and direction to warehousing activities, which includes, but is not limited to parts receiving, picking, storage, shipping, returns, expediting and returns
  • Continue to build healthy and positive work environments that enable the team to reach their potential while strengthening organizational capacity
  • Build trust and establish strong relationships with departments and branches across the organization, and other external partners
  • Ensure the prudent and effective use of financial and human resources in the delivery of the section and team's work
  • Ensure the alignment of structure, process, competencies, leadership style and culture to the strategy of the section and within the assigned warehouse operations team
  • Establish warehouse operational objectives to be achieved on a daily and weekly basis
  • Develop business cases for pursued technology, including financial analysis, risk mitigation, and oversee the implementation of new initiatives

Qualifications:


What does success look like?

  • Completion of the Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP), Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO), or American Production & Inventory Control Specialists (APICS) is considered an asset
  • Utilize your leadership experience in a diversified warehousing, inventory management, or a related role within a large, complex organization
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by implementing high standards of operational quality related to timely receiving and issuing of parts required to ensure Fleet Maintenance service levels are maintained
  • Think strategically to address large, complex issues, to manage emergent projects while steering dynamically
  • Anticipate business opportunities and influence enterprisewide policy, planning and initiatives
  • Build positive, trusting and mutually beneficial relationships internal and external partners
