About Us
SA Energy Group is a General Partnership between Robert B. Somerville and Aecon Utilities, a division of Aecon Construction Group. SA Energy Group provides mainline pipeline construction services to the Canadian Oil and Gas industry.

We have a strong project backlog and our successes are well documented having constructed over 1000 km of large diameter pipeline over the past 8 years.


Purpose of this Position


Reporting to the Environmental Manager, the Environmental Coordinator is responsible for perform planning, monitoring, field support, and reporting duties associated with the Environmental Management Program for the assigned project.


Status of the Position
This is a temporary, full-time position.

The work schedule will be 6 days on (Monday - Saturday) and 1 day off (Sunday), 12 hours per day.

The employment term shall be dependent on the duration of the current project and future project workload.


Location
The position will be based out of SA Energy Group's Project Offices in camp, located northeast of Prince George, BC


Key Responsibilties

  • Have awareness of environmental obligations and responsibilities.
  • Maintain the Environmental Management System and ensure compliance with applicable best practices, regulations, Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and sitespecific plans.
  • Coordinate environmental input on the project.
  • Prepare the environmental component of Foreman Onboarding and Pre-Phase Meetings.
  • Assist the project team in developing sitespecific plans to ensure applicable environmental compliance.
  • Provide reports and attend onsite meetings as required.
  • Manage data collection, storage and analysis.
  • Assist with incident investigations in accordance with Incident Reporting Procedures of the Company and the owner and analyse all data.
  • Coordinate and assist in the preparation and maintenance of EMPs.
  • Liaise on a daytoday basis with project supervisors and foremen.
  • Assist in the preparation of sitespecific Environmental Control Procedures.
  • Develop a team atmosphere between the Company and owner environmental personnel.
  • Ensure the successful coordination of environmental components of the Project Turnover Package.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Technical diploma, B.Sc., or equivalent with appropriate qualifications for work in Canada with a minimum of one years' experience conducting construction site environmental monitoring activities.
  • Experience working successfully in large, multidisciplinary engineering design teams and heavy civil construction teams.
  • Relevant professional certification (e.g., PBiol, BIT, Trainee RBTech, AAg, EPt, etc.) or ability to obtain is an asset.
  • Experience interpreting and working with federal and provincial environmental regulatory and permitting requirements associated with infrastructure development projects.
  • Experience working with a range of environmental disciplines (surface and groundwater quality, soils, vegetation, fish and fish habitat, contaminated sites, air quality, noise, archaeology, First Nations, etc.) is an asset.
  • ESC (Erosion and Sediment Control) experience or training is an asset.
  • CPESC (Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control) and/or CESCL (Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead) certification or equivalent is an asset.
  • Ability to problem solve and work alone.
