New Directions is a social service agency offering a wide range of resources and services that foster the hopes and dreams of people and their communities.


This position is responsible for the coordination of resources in the Transition, Education and Resources for Females program, and specifically provides coordination and supports to the adult program.

They assist case managers, and education staff in the development of individual support plans, education plans, etc. Assists the Manager & Administrative Assistant with the coordination of SEY and Lodge Trainings.

Facilitates program partnerships with external agencies such as:
Klinic, AFM, Project Choices, and a variety of other community resources.


Responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate, develop, and implement on-going supports, as well as the recreational, educational, and cultural activities of the adult day program.
  • Ensure that service area goals and participant goals are established and implemented.
  • Ensure that afterhours calls are handled in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Oversee registration, scheduling, and evaluation of SEY and Lodge trainings.
  • Ensure that updates are made to training curriculum on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintain and update the service area orientation manual for staff.
  • Assist with new employee orientations.
  • Assist the manager with preparing the service areas' annual and semiannual reporting requirements.
  • Assist with service area evaluation, and collection of data as required.
  • Assist with the development of service area specific policies and procedures.
  • Assist in developing proposals for new service area initiatives, including assisting with grant/funding proposals as assigned by the manager.
  • Maintain petty cash float and prepares cheque requisitions/invoices as needed.
  • Maintain service area records and files.

What you will bring:


  • Three (3) years of experience in the areas of office administration, reporting, evaluation and/or training.
  • Diploma or degree in Business Administration or related education, or an equivalent combination of experience and education (may include Indigenous studies, social work, psychology, counselling, etc.).
  • Experience providing physical, psychological, and social supports to atrisk individuals and other vulnerable populations is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous teachings, culture, and history including participating in cultural programming alongside participants.
  • Strong computer and technical skills, proficiency with Microsoft Excel /Word and the full Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to continuously learn new database processes. Experience working with SharePoint (or similar) and PowerPoint is considered an asset.
  • Ability to selfmanage time and balance work in order to meet strict timelines for the completion of tasks and competing priorities.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License and ability to travel in and around Winnipeg area
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to be diplomatic in handling all situations.
  • Experience working with the community and in facilitating external community partnerships.
  • Experience working from a traumainformed perspective is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in the issues and supports related to addictions, harm reduction strategies, and mental health would be considered an asset.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR, Mental Health First Aid, NVCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) and ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills) certifications would be considered an asset.


The salary range for this full-time position, based on a 35-hour work week is $22.89 per hour to $32.05 per hour ($41,659 to $58,331 per annum), dependent upon education and/or experience.
