MHICA's technicians build and join wing assemblies and fuselage sections, as well as perform systems and flight control assembly installations and testing.


Scope of Position
The Team Lead
  • Production
is an experienced worker in charge of a small group of employees in any assigned production area. The team lead plays an intermediate role between workers and supervisors.

The team lead is responsible for the smooth and safe operation of his team, helping the workers to meet goals, and mediating concerns with upper management.

The team lead promotes a safe work environment and is responsible for the safety of his crew. The team lead must understand the legal liability of this role and any related occupational and safety laws.

He/she may also make certain his team members comply with safety regulations, identify a need for safety training, complete an initial safety and hazard assessment, participate in accident investigations, and see to timely resolution of safety concerns.


  • Supervising; the employees, the materials and the production plan.
  • Ensure tasks are completed in an efficient timeline with deadlines met.
  • Assist the Supervisor in delegating tasks to production workers.
  • Ensure all production tools are operated in a safe manner.
  • Planning work requirements to meet schedule as required.
  • Leading and participating in onthejob training and process improvements.
  • Acting as a member of the continuous improvement team.
  • Ensuring all health and safety rules are followed accordingly.
  • Assisting with data gathering/entry into the cost system.
  • Leading continuous process improvements through Kaizen initiatives.
  • Collaborating with cross functional teams.
  • Other duties as assigned including but not limited to arranging for extra workers, evaluating the quality of work of team members, organizing crew tasks, maintaining work standards, resolving issues between team members, and mentoring apprentices.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong communication, leadership and organizational skills.
  • Strong knowledge of the build process and the production cycle.
  • Solid working knowledge of computerized inventory management systems
  • Ability to effectively make and execute decisions in a fast paced work environment.
  • Ability to work shifts to accommodate production scheduling.
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn new tasks.
  • Exposure to quality systems and safety fundamentals.

Preferred Skills

  • Maintain professionalism.
  • Ability to accomplish duties required effectively and efficiently.
  • Keep the Supervisor and Production Manager well informed of daily operations.
  • Ability to deal with added daytoday issues and concerns.
  • Develops, executes and tracks Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) for your team.

Experience

  • Internal experience at MHICA at level III with a demonstrated ability to lead.

Education

  • Aircraft Sheet Metal Fabrication & Repair Diploma (minimum education requirement).
