How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:

The Coordinator, Community Outreach, Training & Education is responsible for supporting the development, and coordination of assigned education, training and/or community-based programs, including liaising with internal and external stakeholders to effectively advance TRCA's strategic goals.


Major Responsibilities:


  • Organizes the logistics, communications, and plans for the execution of training, education and community engagement programs, projects and events
  • Designs, develops and delivers a variety of innovative events and programs to engage diverse audiences in employment opportunities, sustainability initiatives, retrofit actions, community codesign, and community capacity building and connections
  • Delivers workshops, programs, training and/or other types of educational activities in various forms, including community, school, business and other stakeholder forums
  • Monitors, reports and tracks metrics related to event and program deliverables, while undertaking research into industry best practices
  • Supports the coordination of requests for comments on draft content and the preparation of project correspondence including agreements, audits, briefings, reports, receives, reviews and incorporates technical comments into relevant documents
  • Meets with internal and external stakeholders as required to support the execution of education and training and community outreach programs and events
  • Coordinates events working in conjunction with Marketing, Communications & Events as required
  • Designs and deliver tailored marketing and promotion including letters, flyers, signage, website, and social media content
  • Supports financial tracking and reporting as well as sustainability of metrics
  • Provides training to TRCA and external staff as required
  • Coordinates and consolidates information and data for grant proposals
  • Manages equipment/supply inventories and promotional and program materials, replaces, repairs or purchases equipment for programs
  • Supports employees/volunteers/contractors, as applicable, ensuring health & safety policies and practices, and other TRCA policies are adhered to
  • Incumbents may also be assigned other duties

What will you need to succeed:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Environmental Studies, Outdoor Recreation or a related field
  • Valid Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C Certification
  • 2+ years of experience providing program coordinator or administration
  • 2 + years of experience delivering communitybased programs and events Experience leading nature interpretation activities in the outdoors
  • Able to comprehend written documentation and procedural guidelines; skilled in writing clear correspondence (concise, logical, grammatically correct)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate project status for various audiences
  • Ability to engage with partners and the public and communicate effectively with tact and courtesy
  • Able to selfmanage workload and prioritize tasks as an ongoing challenge in a frequently fluctuating workload and multiple deadlines
  • Demonstrates responsiveness to internal and external customer requests and needs
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify problems in a timely manner, seeking the appropriate level of support to solve issues
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite including online software such as MS teams, WebEx, and SharePoint
  • Valid Ontario Class G2 driver's license
