RCMP Administrative Assistant, Computers

Nature of the Position

The Administrative Assistant, Computers maintains the CPIC (Canadian Police Information Centre) records for the Sechelt RCMP Detachment, provides administrative and computer systems support, and functions as a Special Provincial Constable for court.

Additional duties include serving as Court Liaison and providing front counter service to the public in a relief capacity. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid RCMP reliability security clearance as a condition of employment.

Essential Competencies

  • Completion of Grade 12 (or equivalent) plus completion of a postsecondary Administrative Assistant Certificate program
- a minimum of two years' experience providing clerical support, preferably in a policing, legal or emergency services environment
- a high level of proficiency with computers and the ability to easily learn new programs with training.
- the ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills, integrity and respect, initiative, critical thinking skills and exercising sound judgement
- the ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- the ability to effectively prioritize a varying workload with shifting priorities
- the ability to offer excellent customer service while working in potentially stressful environment in dealing with difficult clients
- a typing speed of at least 50 wpm

Preferred Competencies

Working Conditions
This is a regular full-time, unionized position within the BCGEU. Wage for the position is set at Grid Level 7, $ $34.08 per hour plus an attractive benefits package. Hours of work are 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The District supports employment equity in accordance with the Human Rights Code of B.C.
