Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) is a unique Indigenous Institute, recognized by community, government, and institutions of higher learning, as a Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Knowledge.

SNP offers postsecondary, secondary, trades education and training.

SNP has formal partnerships with nine publicly funded Ontario Universities and Colleges and collaborates with six Ontario-based Indigenous owned and controlled post-secondary Institutes.


Function & Overview


Reporting to The Manager of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing and Events Coordinator will work collaboratively with all functional units to promote the organization, create awareness of SNP's programs and services, and support the successful delivery of workshops, open houses, conferences, and other events with the highest level of quality.

The Marketing and Events Coordinator is required to perform all duties consistent with the governance values and operating policies of Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) while fostering positive relations with staff, students, stakeholders, and the community; contributing to a culturally supportive teaching, learning and work environment consistent with Hodinǫshǫ:nih/Rotinonhson:ni values of Ga'nigohi:yo:/Kanikoriio (Respect and the Good Mind).


Duties
The duties of the the Marketing and Events Coordinator include, without limitation:

Marketing

  • Developing professional marketing and promotional materials, including but not limited to: brochures, promotional items, social media graphics, photos, videos, publications and reports, advertising copy and design, posters, and presentations;
  • Maintaining a list and vendors contacts for event suppliers, and advertising and marketing distribution channels used by the organization;
  • Supporting the development and execution of comprehensive marketing plans and strategies and content by; conducting market research, accessing analytics, identifying creative approaches and new concepts that support priority areas, annual applicant and enrolment targets, and top of mind awareness;
  • Monitoring and facilitating proper use of Six Nations Polytechnic's branding and style guidelines;
  • Assisting in production activities related to marketing and events for the organization;
  • Providing assistance to the Marketing and Communications team as it pertains to public relations, internal communications, and website management;

Events

  • Coordinating food arrangements, caterers, and other logístical details related to campus events as required;
  • Managing detailed event planning documents; ensuring all tasks are organized, assigned, and status updates are kept current;
  • Developing event budgets, including: list of potential vendors, requesting quotes and other required eventrelated items;
  • Organizing and coordinating event planning committees and meetings, and ensuring all materials are distributed in a timely manner;
  • Acting as a key point person during events, providing direct event support, ensuring events progress as planned, and resolving and/or escalating issues as needed;
  • Conducting postevent evaluation activities
  • Maintaining detailed event files for future reference;

General Administration

  • Participating in the annual planning and strategy activities for the Communications team;
  • Developing an approved annual work plan for the efficient and effective discharge of all duties;
  • Working cooperatively with all departments and SNP Leadership, and providing regular reporting on activities and outcomes related to SNP Communications and projects;
  • Remaining knowledgeable and up to date on emerging trends as it pertains to marketing and communications;
  • Assisting in the development, distribution, and delivery of Communications reports, information, and presentations to employees, Senior Leadership, SNP Board, and external stakeholders;
  • Ensuring documentation, deliverables, and digital content are up to date, appropriately stored, and easy to navigate;
  • Adhering to all policies and processes, including conforming to deadlines and reporting requirements;
  • Conducting research, analysis, and review of data and internal reports to produce a final evaluation of key results;
  • Participating in staff, Board, ad hoc and ordinary committee, working group, and program advisory meetings, and staff training and information sessions, as required;
  • Participating in maintaining a supportive environment conducive to learning and working at SNP; and
  • Other related duties, as required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree or College diploma in advertising, broadcasting, communications, journalism, marketing, event management or related field;
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role; and
  • Experience working within a First Nations organization is considered an asset.
