Qualifications:


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to deliver effective Addiction Services
  • Provide case management, pre and posttreatment planning, group therapy, individual counseling, and aftercare support
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of programs within Adult Addiction Services
  • Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining regular attendance at work

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor level University degree in Social Work or related discipline
  • Registration with the College of Registered Social Workers (RSW) or equivalent
  • Minimum of three years of clinical work with adults experiencing substance use difficulties
  • Direct experience in crisis intervention, group work, and case management
  • Knowledge of substance abuse theory, harm reduction model and related mental health issues
  • Experience with an interdisciplinary biopsychosocial model of care.
  • Welldeveloped oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Indigenous Culture and Northern communities
  • Demonstrated understanding/training in trauma, crisis intervention models are an asset

Skills/Abilities:

  • Thorough understanding of all aspects of substance abuse and/or problem gambling.
  • Working knowledge of substance abuse theory, mental health issues, and family systems
  • Working knowledge of the Thunder Bay Addiction system and integrated partnerships
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
