Restaurant Supervisor

Fulltime, Seasonal

On Location, 383 Keltic In Road, Ingonish NS

Keltic Lodge is a historic resort located in the heart of Cape Breton Highlands National Park overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Just 2 hours from Sydney, NS, and a 5-hour drive from Halifax, the resort has been welcoming guests to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia since July 1940.

The Restaurant Supervisor is a detail-oriented, organized, creative and dynamic individual.

The main function of the Restaurant Supervisor is to supervise restaurant operations, reporting to the Restaurant Manager, to ensure first quality food and beverage service.


Essential Functions (but not limited to):

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Keltic Lodge standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper business attire and nametag when working.
  • Comply at all times with Keltic Lodge standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Supervise the daily operations of the restaurant.
  • Train, coach, and counsel employees.
  • Handle guest disputes and concerns.
  • Adhere to health department regulations.
  • Meet and greet guests.
  • Conduct and attend all required meetings.
  • Responsible for care and upkeep of front of house space and equipment, regular repair lists, special cleaning projects, and equipment replacement should all be coordinated on a regular basis.
  • Ensuring all associates job satisfaction expectations are met.
  • Be aware of upcoming groups and major conventions throughout the year.
  • Control labour cost.
  • Assist to attract, retain, and motivate all associates; hire, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance reviews, resolve problems, provide open communication vehicles and discipline, as appropriate.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:


  • Must possess outstanding, proactive guest service skills, pride for the resort, a professional presentation and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be willing to work all evening, weekend, and latenight shifts.
  • Previous food and beverage experience in a highvolume establishment
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs as well as good user of food & beverage POS systems.
  • Must be able to stand and exert wellpaced mobility for up to 12 hours in length and be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Work well under pressure and as part of a professional team
  • Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by coworkers and guests.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions.
  • Knowledge of Food and Beverage, preparation techniques, health department rules and regulations, liquor laws and regulations.

Experience/Education:


  • Minimum 2 years of progressive experience in a restaurant/bar or a related field; or a 2year college degree and 1 or more years of related experience.
