Description

Under the supervision of the Director, the Coordinator will coordinate various security and fire prevention systems at the Port of Montreal to ensure operations run smoothly and to enforce regulations.

They will act as a security liaison between the various Montreal Port Authority (MPA) departments, external stakeholders (clients, terminals, service providers, emergency services, truck drivers, etc.) and MPA employees.


Plan and coordinate the effective use of safety and fire prevention technology at the Port of Montreal in compliance with MPA operational practices and procedures

  • Monitor and ensure that various operational systems related to access control, call distribution, key system and the emergency response plan work properly
  • Coordinate software updates with internal and external vendors.
  • Plan and monitor activities and actions required by software and other systems to ensure smooth daytoday operations.
  • Coordinate changes and update monitoring systems, vehicle dashboard and related software.
  • Oversee the troubleshooting process with all stakeholders, including testing, impact analysis and solution implementation.
  • Coordinate and schedule training on the various systems.
  • Research, recommend, implement or assist with implementing new tools and methods to ensure effective, efficient security software that meets clients' specific needs.
  • Use the software to create forms and other electronic documents required for operations.

Validate service provider billing

  • Prepare a monthly report on the guard service provider's workforce (hours, overtime).
  • Validate billing for guard, locksmith and other security service providers (parts and labour).

Manage physical access controls

  • Coordinate the needs of internal and external clients and conduct security risk analyses to anticipate potential issues.
  • Prepare an annual report on the condition of physical access and security technology systems.
  • Coordinate security inspections on Port territory, follow up on anomalies and coordinate corrective actions with suppliers.
  • Follow up on internal and terminal security audits and noncompliance.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of physical access controls on Port territory.
  • Validate physical control system compliance with service providers.
  • Carry out modifications and actions required in the systems following requests from internal and external clients.
  • Collect all relevant information from monitoring systems and any reported anomalies, coordinating with suppliers to correct anomalies.
  • Inspect, verify and/or send alarm and incident reports, monitoring the situation and following up as needed.
  • Create security system verification and control practices and procedures in accordance with the Safety Compliance Verification Program.
  • Monitor and resolve alarm and access system problems.
  • Ensure the system is operating correctly and identify problems.
  • Recommend solutions and carry out requests from other departments or suppliers.

  • Verify the system is working properly and implement solutions.
  • Make recommendations and prepare plans for upgrading or adding components.
  • Conduct risk analysis and assessments as required.
  • Analyze needs on the ground.
  • Ensure continuity of projects.
  • Act as a resource for other departments.

Locksmith

  • Review locksmith requests.
  • Approve, modify or cancel more complex requests.
  • Conduct risk assessments and analyses.
  • Provide locksmith technicians with necessary information and tools.
  • Oversee locksmith work.
  • Act as a resource for other departments.
  • Coordinate work with other departments as required.
  • Update key management software and database.
  • Deploy locks and keys according to the Port diagram.

Security projects

  • Act as a resource for other departments on security issues.
  • Analyze and/or recommend and/or implement and/or monitor various projects.

Act as Port Security Advisor

  • Assist with Security Department operational activities.
  • Make recommendations to the Director of Security and Business Continuity regarding security best practices.
  • Review and assess building and facility security needs, sharing their expertise with managers to ensure adequate protection of people and assets.
  • Assist with, develop and implement physical security systems projects.
  • Assist in granting access to the Port and required permissions.
  • Fill in for the Port's fingerprint and clearance officer as required.
  • Coordinate or perform driver services for the MPA.

Coordinate drone, marine and other surveillance activities on MPA territory

  • Coordinate and validate drone flight plans over Port territory.
  • Perform drone flights for the MPA.
  • Assist in coordinating workers during marine surveillance or related security operations.
  • Conduct security investigations, make recommendations, write reports and follow up on incidents and inspections within MPA territory.
