Duties:
- Perform veterinary anesthesiology and emergency and critical care services;
- Manage and oversee the planning and development of the anesthesiology department of the hospital;
- Assist in recruiting and training of appropriate professional and nonprofessional staff with the support of the hospital;
- Work with hospital staff to develop and launch a strategic plan;
- Perform therapeutic procedures;
- Responsible for patient records management;
- Accurate client billing;
- Participate in continuing education matters;
- Examine animals and diagnose problems or disease through physical examinations or laboratory tests;
- Diagnose and prescribe medication to sick animals;
- May enforce government regulations in disease control;
- Keep up with the flow of the clinic and meeting expected appointment times;
- Expected to attend monthly DVM and all other team meetings, and contribute ideas and feedback at the meetings that will help with the health of the hospital and patients; and
- May attend up to one (1) external conference per year.
Requirements:
- University degree in veterinary medicine and three to four years of additional postgraduate studies or residency training in veterinary anesthesiology;
- Board certified by the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia (ACVAA), or the ability to obtain, is required
- Board certified by the American College of Veterinary Emergency Critical Care (ACVECC), or the ability to obtain, is required
- Provincial Licensing from the College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO) is required or ability to obtain
- Passion for what you do every day Enthusiasm, energy, and a positive attitude are a must
- A strong desire to educate and build solid relationships with clients
- Solid communication skills, both when dealing with clients and interpersonal relationships
