ABOUT THE ROLE

This position is responsible for helping to ensure compliance with various food regulatory, supply chain due diligence and sustainability legislation is achieved by the Company.

Working with the Manager, Food Inspection, Safety and Compliance to exercise due diligence examination of vendor/supplier partners and products sold by the Company to ensure compliance related issues are identified and addressed.


Responsibilities:


  • Communication
  • Communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing to internal and external customers/clients.
  • Ensure regular updates and completion timelines are effectively communicated to management.
  • Project/Task Management
  • Review item specifications, prepackaged product labels, and vendor related documentation for all compliance requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessment evaluations for vendors/commodities based on Due Diligence Program requirements.
  • Create and maintain all new and existing product signage and recipe cards at store level.
  • Ensure all vendor/item related compliance documentation is updated and maintained.
  • Maintain all compliance related documentation, manuals, tools and implement changes as directed.
  • Support the Manager, Food Inspection, Safety and Legislative Compliance in creating and maintaining compliance programs (Due Diligence, Preventative Control Programs, etc.).
  • Support the preparation for Compliance Reporting.
  • Support Quality Assurance Coordinator as back up for: responding to quality mailbox feedback (store, customer), product lab testing and releasing, communication of quality/food safety issues to stores (product surveys) where required.
  • Support other projects and initiatives as required.
  • Compliance
  • Ensure product store sign requests meet signage requirements, including CFIA requirements related to ingredient, allergen and nutritional information.
  • Identification and immediate communication of any food safety or other compliance risk to the business.
  • Keep uptodate on food safety, quality, importation and supply chain transparency/due diligence /ESG initiatives (ie. Bill S211 Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chain s Act) in respect of food and consumer product goods.
  • Keep uptodate on sustainability and extended producer responsibility/stewardship legislation and requirements.
  • Ensure documentation is managed in compliance with Company Operating Policies and Procedures and all applicable legislation.
  • Detail Oriented
  • Review product specifications for any abnormalities and adherence to program requirements. Ensure all information is saved and retained as policies require.

  • Monitor and stay abreast of any changes in government standards

  • Ensure integrity of data for all entries ensuring backup/support documentation is attained and on hand at all times.
  • Take responsibility and ownership of all assigned tasks.

Education & Skills

  • Postsecondary education in Foods Safety, Nutrition and/or related field
  • Advanced knowledge of food safety and food safety systems and regulations (i.e. HAACP, GFSA, CFIA)
