The Therapy Assistant is responsible for assisting in the delivery of therapeutic rehabilitation programs.

The Therapy Assistant participates in assessment related activities as well as the planning and development of client programs which includes leading individual or group treatment and educational interventions.

This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 41 Collective Agreement.

A directly related diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution is required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Ability to speak, read and write fluently in the English language required. Proficiency with computers and computer programs is required. Strong verbal/written communication skills and ability to adapt communication style to meet varying needs. Must have strong organizational, interpersonal, and assessment skills in providing care. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment. Interest and commitment to working with residents/clients experiencing cognitive and physical impairments. Effective clinical reasoning skills. Excellent problem solving skills including analytical thinking and conflict resolution reasoning. Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent clinical experience including experience in a continuing care/rehabilitation setting preferred.
