Assistant Principal - Vilna School**:

Aspen View Public Schools, with a division office located in the town of Athabasca, is a rural school division providing diverse and innovative programming to students in a number of communities.

The division is unique in that it is surrounded by a multitude of lakes, golf courses and trails that appeal to an active, outdoor lifestyle while still being in close proximity to larger urban centers.

Located in the hamlet of Vilna, Alberta (approximately 30 minutes from the town of St. Paul), the school serves the communities of Vilna in addition to students from the Whitefish Lake First Nation and Saddle Lake Cree Nation with a population of approximately 210 students in a K-12 setting.

The school is steeped in a rich tradition of local pride and community support while honoring and balancing the variety of cultures represented in the school.

The region is surrounded by lakes, golf courses and opportunities for fishing, snowmobiling, camping and other outdoor pursuits.

Developing and working with the school council to link with community support is an integral part of the assignment.

It is important that the community identity is reflected in the school and that the voices of all stakeholders are represented.

The goal is always to strive for improvement in academics, while providing a well-rounded experience for students.

Aspen View Public Schools prides itself on supporting staff improvement through well designed professional development.

The current focus of the division includes improving literacy, closing the achievement gap for First Nations, Métis and Inuit learners, and staff and student wellness.

Have a proven record of successful teaching
Model a dynamic, collaborative management style in an environment that interacts positively with all educational stakeholders:
Have the ability to create a culture of high expectations for students and staff:
Have demonstrated success in promoting student engagement and capturing student voice;
Have experience working with First Nations, Métis and Inuit students;
Have knowledge and experience working with systemic literacy programs;
Have knowledge of inclusive education;
Have a keen interest in fine arts programming;
Actively embody the seven dimensions of the Principal Quality Standards;
Integrate effective use of technology into teaching, learning and leadership;
Promote and initiate global citizenship and service learning projects.

This position will commence with the school year.
