Responsibilities:


  • Take accurate and complete tree inventories in support of a range of projects according to applicable guidelines, bylaws, and best management practices (BMPs) in addition to field notes
  • Assist with the preparation and coordination of Arborist reports, Tree Protection and Preservation Plans, as well as Restoration/Compensation Tree Planting Plans
  • Provide accurate and complete field notes
  • Data entry and data management
  • Collaborate with CAD and/or GIS teams to produce figures and drawings
  • Collect point and topographic survey data to support tree inventory and arborist activities
  • Provide field and office support including botanical inventories, Ecological Land Classification, amphibian calling surveys, benthic surveys, erosion and sediment control inspections, water quality sampling and flow measurements, sanitary and storm sewer monitoring, bathymetric surveys, statistical analyses, data entry, and table preparation, etc.
  • Travel (generally within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)) will be required an estimated 70% of time will be out of the office (dependent on project and seasonal requirements)
  • Handle and dispose of samples and sampling equipment weighing up to 50 pounds

Skills and Qualifications:


  • 03 years of relevant experience, preferably in a consulting environment with strong vegetation identification skills
  • Diploma or Certificate in Ecology, Biology, Forestry, Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, Arboriculture or equivalent education
  • Credentials as an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist or ability to acquire ISA certification within 3 months of employment
  • ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) and Canadian Inspector of Sediment and Erosion and Control (CISEC) certifications considered an asset
  • Experience completing surveys using traditional survey methods and realtime kinematic (RTK) global positioning system (GPS) units
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to exercise good judgment
  • Meticulous, proficient with electronic data collection and ability to provide accurate field and data records
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings/plans
  • Selfmotivated with exceptional organizational skills to balance multiple tasks and meet ambitious deadlines
  • Comfortable working for extended durations throughout all seasons, during inclement/adverse weather conditions, and on or near
  • Possess a valid driver's license
