POSITION PURPOSE


Reporting to the Program Manager, Creative and Digital Media, is responsible for designing, updating and maintaining the department's internal and external websites and backend content management systems; follows and implements all accessibility requirements and website standards; maintains electronic and business processes; oversees the design, testing and implementation of all new digital systems to support the overall customer experience; provides overall digital media and graphic design functions for the department.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designs, develops and maintains the Department websites and intranet, including the backend content management systems, navigation tools, content creation, integration of approved content, photography and videography, and establishing source linkage requirements.
  • Researches and recommend new technologies and conducts best practice studies to update the websites, and keeps current with industry trends; makes recommendations and oversees the programs to implement them.
  • Oversees file and database management and coordination of the retrieval of information from websites to endusers, and archiving and records management, in conjunction with the Information Technology Services (ITS) Branch, Corporate Communications and Corporate Records Management
  • Supports the Department's graphic design teams with conceptualizing and developing a range of communication products, including advertisements, campaigns, brochures, reports, displays, etc., that promote the Department.
  • Oversees the continuity, accessibility and consistency of messaging between traditional and digital media.
  • Ensures digital information, links and business services on and websites are timely, accurate and accessible; reconfigures the information into a visually interesting, userfriendly accessible format.
  • Provides consultation and knowledge expertise to the Department management and staff
  • Maintains intimate knowledge of the website content, organization and functionality

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful completion of a Community College Diploma Program in Web Development, Communications, Computer Science or related discipline or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • User Experience (UX) designation an asset
  • Minimum three (3) years progressively responsible experience in website management, process redesign and communications.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, team work, initiative/self management and accountability, and flexibility/adaptability.
  • Strong working knowledge of communications and web technologies.
  • Solid understanding of the capabilities of web browsers across multiple platforms, navigational issues and the constraints involved in designing for online media
