Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Social Work - School Social Workers provide a wide variety of support to students, families, and schools they service through direct work with individual students, groups of students and educator teams, both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include you to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, creativity, flexibility, and commitment so that you can translate your superior clinical knowledge psycho-social issues into the educational system to improve the lives and educational outcomes for students.

You will provide assessment, intervention, consultation, case management support and crisis intervention to students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. There will also be opportunities to provide professional development for others in the school and Board-wide as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor or Master's degree in Social Work
Registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service
Demonstrated experience providing social work services to children, youth and families
Proven experience as a member of a multidisciplinary team
Knowledge of community based mental health services in the Region of Peel
Excellent oral and written communication skills
5 years post graduate experience and previous school board employment as a social worker preferred
Must have access to a vehicle and possess a valid Ontario Driver's license, and be willingness to work within all regions of Peel District School Board
