Why is this role important?- What you'll do

  • 1. Develops and maintains understanding of current and emerging data governance best practices and related federal/provincial/territorial stakeholder needs and priorities and contributes to foundational activities to support the development of a pan Canadian health data stewardship framework, internally and externally.
  • 2. Contributes to the evolution of the Health Data and Information Governance and Capability Framework and associated toolkits by supporting analysis and engagement activities with both internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • 3. Coordinates all operational and logístical aspects related to the development and implementation of a pan Canadian health data stewardship framework, including, but not limited to, organizing meetings, developing pertinent documentation and/or content, undertaking followup activities, and drafting meeting minutes.
  • 4. Acts as a resource for stakeholders, helping improve coordination and alignment of activities.
  • 5. Researches and synthesizes information on health data stewardship practices and concepts. This includes planning, conducting literature scans, documenting, and summarizing findings.
  • 6. Drafts and participates in the development of reports, briefing notes, presentations and other documentation, as required.
  • 7. Coordinates all operational and logístical aspects related to projects including, but not limited to, organizing and/or facilitating meetings, drafting, and developing pertinent documentation, and undertaking followup activities, and obtaining required approvals.
  • 8. Coordinates the review and feedback process of publication, translation and dissemination and communication of all materials, products, and publications as they relate to information quality and health data ethics, ensuring overall quality assurance.
  • 9. Builds and maintains relationships with stakeholder groups within CIHI, to ensure coordination and synergy. Contributes to the promotion of CIHI products and services through participation on committees, presentations and/or attendance at conferences, as required.
  • 10. Assumes responsibility for other related duties, as required.
  • What you'll bring to the table
  • Undergraduate degree in Health, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Three to five years related work experience. Experience in health data governance, health information management or working with healthcare systems and/or health data.
  • Knowledge of CIHI's data and information governance mechanisms and related resources and awareness of data and information governance best practices and data stewardship models.
  • Conceptual understanding of health, the health care system, as well as a sound knowledge of health information and its uses for policy development, planning, management, and evaluation purposes.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, problem solving, interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both autonomously and as a part of an interdisciplinary team within a matrix environment, under tight deadlines.
  • Experience in synthesizing information into briefing notes, backgrounders and presentations for different audiences.
  • Experience in coordinating projects of strategic nature including some experience in project planning, facilitating and execution.
  • Knowledge of CIHI's data holdings is an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required, fluency in French is a strong asset.
