Under the general direction of the Manager, Rehabilitation Services and the supervision of a Speech Language Pathologist, carries out treatment programs with assigned patients.

As a member of the Speech Language Pathology Practice group, participates in discipline specific and interdisciplinary activities that are directed towards a patient-centred environment and that contribute to operational efficiency, program and professional development.

Skills and Qualifications Required:

Graduate of recognized Communicative Disorder Assistant Program.

Position Responsibilities:

Patient Care

Conducts speechlanguage or hearing screenings (without interpretation) following specified screening protocols developed by the supervising therapist
Delivers treatment and/or remediation programs to patients selected by the supervising therapist
Follows documented treatment protocols developed by supervising therapist
Assists therapist during the assessment of patients
Completes patient documentation under the supervision of a speech language pathologist
Prepares therapy materials
Ensures the comfort and safety of patients
Communicates status of assigned patients to supervising therapist regularly, including patient progress and observed changes
Conducts group treatment sessions
