Under the general direction of the Manager, Rehabilitation Services and the supervision of a Speech Language Pathologist, carries out treatment programs with assigned patients.
As a member of the Speech Language Pathology Practice group, participates in discipline specific and interdisciplinary activities that are directed towards a patient-centred environment and that contribute to operational efficiency, program and professional development.
Skills and Qualifications Required:
- Graduate of recognized Communicative Disorder Assistant Program.
Position Responsibilities:
Patient Care
- Conducts speechlanguage or hearing screenings (without interpretation) following specified screening protocols developed by the supervising therapist
- Delivers treatment and/or remediation programs to patients selected by the supervising therapist
- Follows documented treatment protocols developed by supervising therapist
- Assists therapist during the assessment of patients
- Completes patient documentation under the supervision of a speech language pathologist
- Prepares therapy materials
- Ensures the comfort and safety of patients
- Communicates status of assigned patients to supervising therapist regularly, including patient progress and observed changes
- Conducts group treatment sessions
