Position Summary:


Reporting to the Terminal and Aviation Infrastructure Managers this position is responsible for all life safety systems related activities at the GTAA.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Carries out preventative maintenance and repairs on Suppression systems
  • Undertakes, and may coordinate, repairs and installation of Suppression system
  • Provides onsite monitoring of the system, including repair and maintenance work being performed by outside contractors
  • Perform testing, maintenance, trouble shooting and repairs of the Suppression Systems Equipment including weekly testing of all fire pumps, excess pressure pumps, jockey pumps, low pressure devices, flow devices, air compressors

Qualifications:


  • Ontario Certificate of Qualification in the trade of Sprinkler and Fire Protection Installer, (427A) Certification is required
  • Must possess current OWWA or Equivalent Back Flow Prevention testers certification
  • Minimum of 25 years' experience as a Sprinkler Fitter
  • Confined Space Entry Certificate is required
  • Must possess a valid "G" Ontario Driver's license
  • Able to obtain a "D/A" Class AVOP license within 30 days of appointment to the position
  • Able to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the desired level for the position

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Knowledge of GTAA Life safety systems, standards and requirements
  • Knowledge of Fire/Life Safety systems and National Fire Code Regulations
  • Knowledge of industry plumbing codes, standards and requirements
  • Knowledge of the GTAA RMAX system
The GTAA is a federally regulated private sector. The Government of Canada has suspended mandatory vaccination requirement for federally regulated transportation sector workers.

The GTAA continues to monitor government and health developments relating to COVID -19 and may re-introduce the Vaccination and proof of Vaccination requirements in the Policy at any time.
