What can I expect to do in this role?: Reporting to the Director, Heritage Programs, you will:

  • Lead the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of program delivery strategies for the conservation and preservation of Ontario Heritage Trust programs and sites.
  • Manage and lead a multidisciplinary project team to support the organization's business plans.
  • Work with diverse communities to develop and implement initiatives that promote the preservation and interpretation of Ontario's heritage.
  • Implement new technology to interpret and digest complex information about heritage buildings for the public.
  • Provide advice and program planning and management expertise to the organization senior management on program decisions and directions.
  • Lead projects to research, analyze, and develop business change management options/proposals and
strategies to maximize the effectiveness of programs and service delivery.

Strategic Leadership and Management Skills:


  • You are a collaborative leader and have incorporated the principles of inclusion and diversity across all elements of your management style.
  • You have had success in motivating and building relationships with a diverse team of highly professional, technical and administrative staff.
  • You have demonstrated strong change management skills to manage a team, provide direction to achieve operational goals, and implement and support service delivery changes and initiatives.
  • You have experience with operational management, including financial planning, budgeting as well as managing workload and human resources.
  • You have demonstrated the
    leadership behaviours, attributes and mindsets to lead the OPS into the future.

Technical Knowledge and Experience:


  • You have knowledge of emerging trends and developments in information technology.
  • You have knowledge of the architectural design, historical, associative and contextual significance of buildings and landscapes, cultural and natural heritage conservation and archeological heritage.
  • You have knowledge of federal and provincial cultural and natural heritage conservation legislation and regulations, and current municipal heritage planning practices.
  • You have experience with data management techniques to support information management and dissemination activities.

Communication, Interpersonal and Stakeholder Relations Skills:

  • You have strong communication and political acuity skills to provide guidance and advice to liaise with a variety of people of diverse background and skills.
  • You have demonstrated the ability to digest complex information and present it in a clear and concise manner.
  • You can prepare issue papers, background notes, reports and other briefing materials.

Project Management and Analytical Skills:
