Training Specialist


Reporting to the Manager, Community Access, Engagement, and Research (CAER), the Training Specialist is responsible for strategically positioning the College's expertise and capacity to offer customized education and training services to - and in partnership with - district school boards and schools, non-profit organizations and government agencies, business and industry, and sectoral bodies, with the goal of contributing to improved economic and social development, workforce innovation, organizational change and productivity, and business competitiveness.

The incumbent applies knowledge and expertise in learning system development and design, workforce learning and development methodology, systems and organizational change, behaviour change and community development, training impact analysis, and evaluation and metrics to address training and development needs.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Implements competitive intelligence and market analysis of training/learning marketplace and labour market environment to reveal trends, emerging needs and changing conditions impacting private and public workforce development policies and strategies.
  • Manages product development cycle from design and analyses to implementation and evaluation.
  • Provides advanced client relationship and partnership/account management.
  • Collaborates extensively with district school board and secondary school teachers and administrative staff.
  • Cochairs various partnership committees, such as industry and schoollevel planning committees.
  • Design and launch strategic marketing and sales execution plans.
  • Demonstrates competency and fluency in learning and training system needs analysis, development and design, learning and talent development methodologies and training impact analysis.
  • Initiates and manages all phases of program development, customization, delivery and close‐out.
  • Leading and managing specially funded projects according to corporate objectives and strategic growth objectives.
  • Engenders collaborative relationships and productive partnerships with the College's multistakeholder constituencies.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful applicant must have:

  • A four (4) year undergraduate university degree (master's degree preferred) in a relevant discipline (e.g., education and educational administration, business development and management, human resource administration, industrial relations, community and human service development, social policy and program development) or equivalent.
  • Prior experience working in programs and settings with an education, training and/or human service focus.
  • Prior experience developing relationships and linkages with industry, community, and educational partners; previously developed relationships in the GTHA and Brantford-Haldimand is an asset.
  • Specialized education in learning, behaviour change, and/or and training performance systems normally acquired through postgraduate education and accreditation as a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP), Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP), or Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years direct experience in the field of learning, training, needs analysis, and program implementation and monitoring.
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion, and Truth and Reconciliation, with the ability to communicate and work effectively interculturally with diverse groups of students, employees and the community; experience developing programming and resources with and for the benefit of equitydeserving populations (e.g., newcomers, persons with disabilities, Indigenous persons, S2LGBTQIA+ persons) is an asset.

  • Superior problem solving and analytical thinking skills (i.e., ability to collect and analyze complex information from various sources and in a variety of formats in order to synthesize and make recommendations).
