The Shaft Technician is responsible for undertaking all survey works on site and involvement in construction quality management activities required for the Project.
The scope is based upon the Project's daily construction requirements, as instructed by the Project Engineers and Superintendents.
Responsibilities:
- Support the construction / operational team for surface and underground work. This includes oversight of the construction progression, interfacing with construction simultaneous operations and undertaking key construction activities.
- Involvement is required throughout the construction phase from early phase works to postcommissioning.
- Measure, record, and report mining advance on a shiftly basis.
- Develop reports, to be issued for reviewal. Ensure all reports and drawings follow project procedures and requirements.
- Monitor underground environments, to include, but not limited to, ventilation readings, concrete monitoring, and any witnessed convergence.
- Set out of new construction scopes.
- As built surveys of completed construction scopes.
- Involvement in active quality management; concrete pre pour inspections, verticality surveys, as built surveys.
- Coordinate with operational / construction team on safe and highquality methodologies.
- Provide support during construction / operations with technical issues and involvement of developing efficient and safe working procedures.
- Update stock levels for the survey team.
- Play active role in undertaking safe working practices on site.
- Undertake personal development activities on a yearly basis.
- Must be available to work overtime hours, as the Project requires.
Qualifications:
- Formal higher education qualification (minimum of postsecondary diploma) within an Engineering discipline (or similar / relevant experience).
Experience
- At least 3 years of experience working in the mining industry in a Technician or Surveybased (or similar) role.
- Onsite experience in a construction / operational role.
- Shaft sinking experience working to complete concrete pours, services installation, and transfer of benchmarks during station development.
- Demonstrated understanding of design engineering codes, technical standards and regulations relating to The Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1990 Regulation 854: Mines and Mining Plants.
- (Desirable) Experience in EPC project.
Skills
- Ability to work closely with the construction team and interface with the Project Engineering team.
- Ability to function with mínimal supervision; selfderived works and development.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to work as part of a team, with strong interpersonal skills.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to produce detailed reports covering survey data and inspection findings.
- AutoCAD skills and experience with drawing generation / survey data import.
- Reshaper).
