Teaching and research in the School of Occupational Therapy is enhanced through a network of international and interprofessional collaborations that broadens the understanding of occupation and motivates students impact the world at individual and societal levels.


Responsibilities:


  • Reporting directly to Dr. Carrie Anne Marshall at Western University, theTechnical/ Research Support II will oversee implementation of the Peer to Community Model (P2C), an intervention aimed at supporting individuals to thrive in their communities following homelessness. This model is being implemented as part of a pilot study of this novel approach.

Qualifications:


Education:


  • Bachelor's degree in the health sciences or social care
  • Master's or higher degree in occupational therapy, nursing or social work would be an asset

Experience:


  • Experiences or an interest in providing support to individuals who experience homelessness

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

  • Experience in interacting with persons experiencing homelessness, housing precarity, or individuals who have been recently housed following homelessness
  • Experience in interacting with individuals living with mental illness and/or substance use disorders
  • Knowledge of community resources for persons living with mental illness and/or substance use disorders who are unhoused and/or precariously housed
  • Demonstrated relationships with community organizations or a willingness to develop these relationships
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office programs, Zoom, Microsoft Teams or a willingness to learn
  • Knowledge of current practices used in the housing and homelessness sectors to support individuals as they transition to being housed and a willingness to learn from new evidence on this topic
  • Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public
  • Ability to collect and analyze data in an objective manner
  • Multitasking skills to prioritize and consistently produce highquality work within deadlines
  • Ability to investigate defined issues, solicit input, and suggest remedies and alternative approaches that meet the needs of the situation
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
