Description
T he Manager, Business Support Services, is accountable for providing leadership and management within our Business Excellence department.

In this key leadership position, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing various aspects of business support, including Business Excellence Customer Service, Oracle User Support service, and operational support for Finance, Supply Chain Management, and Human Capital Management functions.


The position will provide key leadership to support the Director, including financial management, strategic and financial planning, procurement, and service level performance measurement as well as play a crucial role in maintaining the department's project management standards and tools.


Responsibilities:


  • Lead the strategy and development of an integrated and robust approach to ensure service excellence for Business Support Services, across all service areas, including engaging staff and stakeholders
  • Foster and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with Business Process Owners to understand business strategies, priorities, and needs with a goal of continuous improvement
  • Provide direction and guidance to the Finance, Procurement, and Human Capital Management Functional Business Leads based on priorities and business needs
  • Manage the tracking, prioritization, scheduling, and resolution of identified system defects and issues as well as for system enhancement opportunities
  • Manage, strategize, and implement Business Excellence Oracle User Support and ensure quality customer service is provided
  • Develop, implement, and manage Business Excellence customer service strategies to meet customer needs and strive for continuous improvement including operational service level agreements to define service expectations with business partners as need.
  • Maintain regular engagement with key organizational stakeholders to ensure defined service levels continue to meet organizational needs
  • Lead and manage project management services and standards for Business Excellence
  • Develop, coordinate, and report on key performance indicators for Business Excellence operations and projects
  • Plan, manage, and lead the Business Support Services branch operations to effectively and efficiently deliver services, including recruiting, mentoring, coaching, and managing highly skilled professional and technical staff
  • Assist the Director, Business Excellence with financial management, business planning, and strategies to help the department achieve its strategic goals

Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree in Business, Management or a relevant field from an accredited institution as well as professional accounting designation (i.e. CPA,) or a related postsecondary diploma supplemented with leadership certifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of combined related experience including leading and/or managing professional employees preferably in a municipal setting as well as significant experience with complex financial systems and providing strategic consultation and advice to senior organization representatives
  • Project management certification would be considered an asset
  • Extensive knowledge in both municipal planning and project management, related to business improvements or process changes that impact multiple stakeholders/business units
  • Advanced critical thinking, analytical and systemsthinking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, build relationships, and work with various levels within an organization, including senior leaders, elected officials, management, and operation support staff, in a positive and effective manner
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, change management, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement multiple projects at the same time, while still being able to respond to emerging issues and changing priorities
  • Politically astute and able to read the political implications of recommendations and actions
  • Ability to provide effective leadership to set priorities, provide supervision, promote engagement
