What You Will Get To Do
Reporting to the Supervisor, Recreation & Community Programs, the Part-Time Youth/Children's Program Leader is responsible for planning, preparing and instructing youth and children programs and special events to ensure participants are provided with enjoyable, safe and quality programs/events, including:
- instructing and supervising participants at drop-in programs, birthday parties and leisure programs;
- promoting child and youth programs and youth memberships and support the Whitby Youth Council through leadership of programs and public relations;
- attending staff training sessions;
- responding to participant interests, goals, needs and questions regarding child and youth issues; and,
- other duties as may be assigned.
Who You Are

You will have well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to establish rapport, work cooperatively and communicate effectively with staff, children, youth, parents/guardians and community partners.
What You Bring To Our Team- a minimum Grade 12 education;
- Childhood Development and Youth Leadership Training;
- current certification in Emergency First Aid and CPR 'C' with AED;
- strong research skills to be able to develop the programs and keep up with trends in the field;
- the ability to coordinate activities and motivate children and youth participants and volunteers;
- the physical ability to participate in set up and activities;
- effective demonstrated conflict resolution, reasoning and analytical skills; and,
- a demonstrated intermediate level working knowledge of technical equipment and computers, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); and
- a valid police criminal record check to work with the vulnerable sector.
