This position provides the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays each week, with the requirement to report to the primary NOVA Chemicals work location on Tuesdays through Thursdays.

Employees can opt out of the hybrid schedule and will be expected to work Monday-Friday from the primary work location.

We are seeking a Team Leader, Project Management to join our Manufacturing West (MW) Engineering Team located at our Joffre Site in Central Alberta, near Red Deer.

This position will deliver competitive projects to meet business needs.


You Will Use Your Expertise To:
Achieve identified results in Project Management, Project Control and Estimation and Engineering Systems and Document Control
Lead a team of Project Managers to execute safe, competitive and predictable projects
Provide quality assurance through rigorous adherence to NOVA's Project Development and Implementation (PD&I) process
Manage governance and decision board expectations
Ensure portfolio costs and schedules are monitored
Work with Project Managers to mitigate negative trends through project analysis
Coach and lead best in class cost estimation practices
Assure the integrity of engineering systems in collaboration with Central Engineering
Be the Business Unit Representative (BUR) for external engineering partners

Identify risks, vulnerabilities and support the systems and processes to accept, mitigate or eliminate risk (i.e., PD&I, technical workflow etc.).

Lead the development and implementation of regional/multi-functional strategies which address key business issues/opportunities and delivers targeted results
Achieve cost effectiveness by developing and meeting the department's annual capital and fixed cost budget
Enable growth and development of team members and monitor execution of strategic MW priorities
Provide effective support to Projects, Production and Maintenance, Construction and Turnaround groups
Drive sustained Responsible Care performance improvement through effective safety interactions and safety meetings.


What We Are Looking For:


Post-secondary education (i.e., Engineering degree or Engineering Technologist diploma) with 10+ years of industry related experience and continued professional development OR 12+ years combination of post-secondary education and industry related experience with continued professional development.

Project Management Professional (PMP) will be considered an asset.
P.Eng. registered with APEGA will be considered an asset.
Demonstrated and sustained commitment to the principles of Responsible Care
Leadership skills with a demonstrated track record to achieve results with the ability to drive step change improvement and influence others
Ability to internalize values, mission and vision of the business and externalize them to the organization
Excellent problem solving and facilitation skills with the ability to plan, prioritize and deliver quality results

Healthy balance of strategic vision and tactical analysis to guide decisions and actions
Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a team environment with the ability to coach and develop teams and individuals through effective performance management
Fosters collaborative internal and external relationships
Exceptional interpersonal skills, including strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SAP) with a strong learning ability for new so ftware
