POSITION COVERED BY AMUSE-PSAC BARGAINING UNIT
Under the direction of the Associate Director, Communications, the Web Communications Assistant will play a key role in implementing the digital transformation of the McGill News website.
In collaboration with the Digital Communications Officer-Web and the Editor, McGill News, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring a successful transition to a new website.
- Assist with the migration of the McGill News digital edition to a new content management system;
- Ensure all images and copy are inline with updated standards;
- Optimize the website for accessibility guidelines and search engine optimization;
- Performs specific web maintenance updates;
- Perform other related responsibilities as required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic HTML and CSS.
- Experience with website management systems, such as WordPress.
- Demonstrated knowledge of responsive design, in addition to best practices in usability and accessibility.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work autonomously and to interact and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholder groups.
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English. French spoken and written.
Knowledge of French and English:
McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.
The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 4 on a scale of 0-4.
