ONE Properties (ONE) is seeking a
Accounting Technician to join our property management team in Edmonton, AB.


The Opportunity

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, Properties, the Accounting Technician is responsible for various accounting tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our financial processes at the corporate level.


Accountabilities

Operations

  • Ensure accurate and timely posting of billings and cash receipts, with followup on overdue payments.
  • Conduct monthly bank account reconciliations, addressing discrepancies as needed.
  • Process invoices for operating companies, assigning correct general ledger codes, and allocating expenses.
  • Review and process employee expense claims, ensuring coding accuracy.
  • Facilitate corporate expense chargebacks, compiling invoices with necessary support.
  • Facilitate intercompany balance transfers, obtaining requisite approvals.
  • Execute various journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, chargebacks, and intercompany transactions.
  • Prepare GST schedules with supporting documentation, ensuring timely filing and payment.
  • Assist in drafting financial statements for review, ensuring accuracy and adherence to standards.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and reconcile accounts.
  • Provide coverage for corporate AP Administrators during absences to maintain operations.
  • Undertake additional tasks as directed by the Assistant Controller, Properties, to support objectives.

Qualifications

Education
  • Postsecondary accounting degree or diploma required.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting.

Relationship Skills - Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively and professionally. Ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships with team members and clients. Exercises confidentiality.

Organizational/Multi-Task Skills
  • Ability to allocate one's time effectively, work under pressure and manage tight deadlines; ability to achieve quality results ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities and adapt to new ideas and constant changes; resultsoriented, detailoriented and accurate.

Computer Skills - Proficient in a variety of computer software packages including Microsoft Office and property management/accounting programs, with preference given to Sage 300.

Police Clearance
  • A criminal verification check is required for employment.
