Role & Responsibilities


Reporting to the Senior Director of Retail and supporting 20+ locations across Canada, as the Operations Manager you have a strong retail operations background and will share your genuine commitment to the company's goals and core values, focusing on coaching all team members and leaders to work towards the common organizational objectives.

The following is a summary of the key areas you will be responsible for:


Store Operations

  • Identify / Resolve Store Maintenance issues, respond to store requests of maintenance concerns
  • Lead New Store Opening, Store Set up, New Store Project Management
  • Maintain store supply levels and manage budget and distribution of store supplies
  • Manage vendor relationships with key operational vendors
  • Maintain retail operations communication portals
  • Support the network with any critical operational programs or assets required
  • Maintain / create SOP's to improve operational efficiencies
  • Regularly audit and report on instore inventory and inventory process with the ultimate goal to reduce shrink
  • Maintain inventory count calendars across the network
  • Provide regular reporting on inventory management

Compliance

  • Support / Lead the network on the execution of monthly compliance reporting
  • Train / Coach new managers on execution of compliance reporting
  • Keep up to date with changes within the provincial compliance framework across the network
  • Partner with DM's and all field leadership on successful execution of damage reporting & the product destruction process
  • Work closely with field leadership to address any concerns from a compliance visit
  • Ensure cash handling, cash over/short, credit card charge backs are reported and followed up on

Employee Health & Safety & Security

  • In partnership with HR, ensure the stores / worksites meet the operational health and safety requirements for each jurisdiction
  • Visit stores / Job Sites to Identify and mitigate any potential risk, action any needs, work closely with HR partners to ensure a safe workplace
  • Manages relationships with security, armoured car service, etc.
  • Manages employee activated alarm systems / panic buttons
  • Ensures all worksites are secure as required and keys and alarms are updated as staff change over occurs
  • Ensure all compliance locking systems and mechanisms are functional

Equipment / POS / IT Infrastructure

  • Maintains up to date logs of employee equipment (Laptops / Desktops) owned by the organization
  • Supports the management of the POS infrastructure across the network, works closely with POS vendors to ensure highly effective POS execution
  • Supports any back of house computer systems, ensuring systems are secure and functional
  • Maintains IT security across the network of stores, manages access
  • Supports Head Office and stores with critical infrastructure: Networks, Camera Systems, Alarm Systems

Organizational Culture

  • Enhance the company's culture through regular team outreach as a support partner
  • Regularly look for ways to enhance employee engagement and operational barriers that may be impacting it
  • Develop, manage, and implement Operational SOP's
  • Collect, analyze statistical data, metrics, trends, and reports. Ability to consolidate and present this information to senior leaders.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience in retail and/or a hospitality is strongly desired, particularly in the cannabis, specialty retail and/or liquor industry.
  • Focused experience Store Operations with 2+ years of Operational experience
  • Experience in new store openings, mergers and acquisitions an asset.
  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in Business Administration is an asset
  • Intermediate to advanced experience working with business IT infrastructure an asset
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office
  • Extensive Experience working with POS systems both with hardware and software
