The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a
Manager, Project Services to join our
North Atlantic Project Group Department in
Sudbury. This is a
permanent position.


The Project Services Manager is responsible for the project control systems for multiple Base Metals projects in the North Atlantic Operations (Voiseys Bay, Ontario, Manitoba).

This position has the responsibility for developing, planning, controlling, forecasting, scheduling and project reporting the NA projects.

In addition, the role is responsible for the OPEX and CAPEX estimates and for preparing the yearly and 5 year plan budgets.


Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading the overall cost and cash control support for the NAO FEL 1 and 2 Studies.
  • Support the project scheduling team with setting up, tracking and analyzing consultants and contractor manhours and associated costs within Vale's performance management systems.
  • Reporting project cost to management team for internal reviews, as well as analyzing cost variances and recommending corrective actions to the projects.
  • Responsible for reviewing the budget development and project cash flow and cost control from the projects during the development to ensure project objectives are delivered.
  • Issue budget updates and project cash flow. Prepare forecasts, cost trend reports and monitor cost and budget forecasts.
  • Supporting the Scheduler/Planner with the set up and allocation of project budget according to the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) at the appropriate WBS levels for project tasks.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineering consultants to ensure that CAPEX, OPEX, and Sustaining Capital follow VALE's SPE and financial guidelines and policies.
  • Coordinate financial reporting between NAO Projects, NA Operations finance, BM finance and the BM PMO group teams to ensure all reporting requirements and budgets are properly managed.

About You
Education

  • University degree or College diploma in Engineering, Business, or related discipline
  • P.Eng designation is an asset
  • PMP designation is an asset
  • CPA, CA or CMA designation is an asset
Experience

  • 10+ years of project control experience, preferably in the environmental or industrial sector
  • Experience with leading a team
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Suite programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc)
  • Experiencing with Cost Management databases such as PTS, SAP, Power BI, Primavera, Prism, etc.

Skills:


  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and independently
  • Continuous improvement approach to getting things done and a track record of improving project control systems.
  • Knowledge of procurement/contracts, construction management, scheduling and document control
  • Excellent knowledge of engineering controls, cost control, project accounting and project reporting.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Highly organized individual, strong accounting skills, and documentation management.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Flexibility to travel
