The CRDCN, hosted at McMaster University, is a national platform for leading edge research and training in the quantitative social and population health sciences, creating social, economic, health and environmental benefits for Canadians.


The Network is one of Canada's major science initiatives and provides researchers across Canada with unique access to Statistics Canada survey and administrative data to conduct advanced statistical research and training, which both, advances knowledge in multiple disciplines, and informs key areas of public policy.


The Network's mission is to enable quantitative researchers to address vital questions; train the next generation of highly qualified personnel in social and population health sciences; and contribute to evidence-based policy and decision-making by facilitating access to relevant, timely and well-documented data supported by state-of-the-art computing facilities.


Job Summary:


Purpose and Key Functions:


  • Review and develop strategy related to research, training and knowledge mobilization.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop presentations and present information and training sessions to project personnel, clients, project participants and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and coordinate the implementation and evaluation of projects and other initiatives aligned with the strategic priorities of CRDCN.
  • Conduct literature searches and prepare synthesis.
  • Advise senior staff on matters of strategic and operational importance to the mandate of the projects.
  • Develop and coordinate the implementation and evaluation of projects and other initiatives aligned with the strategic priorities of the department
  • Plan and coordinate all aspects of multiple research projects across multiple sites.
  • Develop interdisciplinary, interinstitutional, and intersectoral research collaborations.
  • Troubleshoot problems at all stages of project development and implementation and assist with modifying protocols or project procedures to address challenges.
  • Create and author research protocols
  • Recruit project participants and enlist agencies to refer participants.
  • Review referrals and keep track of intakes from various referral sources.
  • Develop an implementation plan for research projects.
  • Design promotional strategies and related materials to encourage participation and support for the research project.
  • Perform both quantitative and qualitative analyses of research data.
  • Facilitate focus group sessions with project participants.
  • Coordinate and manage the collection, delivery, entry, verification, analysis, and reporting of data.
  • Oversee the design of databases, data collection forms, error checking methods, and related programs for collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Lead analyses of and make recommendations regarding a broad range of issues including business practices in the delivery of clinical services.
  • Interview project participants and stakeholders to obtain information.
  • Ensure project deliverables and overall milestones are met within established timelines.
  • Ensure relevant Ministry reporting requirements are met, and write reports for submission.
  • Research and recommend new and revised policies, procedures and business practices to address current and anticipated issues to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Initiate and complete related research to prepare background documents, marketing materials and strategic recommendations for projects.
  • Facilitate meetings to inform strategy development and support project implementation.
  • Prepare project budgets, analyze financial information and forecast revenues.
  • Keep project participants informed of project progress through regular reports and newsletters.

Supervision:


  • Has ongoing responsibility for supervising volunteers.

Requirements:


  • Master's degree in a relevant field of study.
  • Requires 4 years of relevant experience.
