Description
What You'll be DoingAssisting the full cycle applied research process, in compliance with all Sheridan and agency strategies, policies, and procedures;
Coordinating project budgets in cooperation with colleagues in SIRT and in the central Generator Support Office;
Providing administrative support and technical assistance (within the limits of their knowledge and experience) to all researchers and clients from idea generation and proposal delivery process on the NSERC ARTP granted research project, and others if required;
Liaising with appropriate internal faculty and administrative or support staff to ensure resources are available and support is provided;
Ensuring projects are fully completed including co-authoring final reports with researchers, and coordination with the Project Coordinator, Operations in fulfillment of all contract obligations;
Providing assistance on limited number of additional projects dependent on workload with the ARTP Grant;
Following up on projects that have issues/problems and documenting the issue/problem and mitigation plan;
Developing and implementing new project management processes and procedures; collaborating with and educating staff on changes and processes;
Coaching/mentoring project team members (faculty researchers and student assistants), and influencing them to take positive action and be accountable for project progress;
Supporting SIRT marketing efforts and assisting with the creation of Success Stories and Marketing/Public Relations material;
Assisting researchers in composing narrative reports on the project results and submitting to funding agencies or companies;
Maintaining currency in field of expertise; and monitoring external trends and practices to provide input to project and business decisions and processes;
Performing other related duties as assigned.
About You
You have a client service focus with an aptitude for identifying client needs and collaborating with others to provide creative and effective solutions.
You are comfortable with changing and competing priorities with a team and use your organizational and project management skills to develop processes to keep things running smoothly.
You have effective interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written and presentation) while also demonstrating a high level of professionalism, discretion, and diplomacy.
You enjoy working with data and are fascinated by the way that even small changes to data can have a large impact.
3-year diploma or degree in Film or a related field, with two years experience coordinating funded research projects in either a corporate or academic setting, as well as demonstrated skill and experience in project management and applied research design and methodology.
Interest in and/or experience working in the film sector.
Knowledgeable of research funding sources and ability to influence stakeholders.
Experience with proposal writing and familiarity with ethical issues in research.
Experience working with individuals and groups from the post-secondary institution system, government and the private sector.
Attainment of or working towards a Project Management Certificate is preferred.
