We are currently looking for
Experienced Safety Watch personnel for a range of casual job openings in
Edmonton and its surrounding areas, offering various roles, locations, and flexible schedules.


The primary responsibility of the Safety Watch is to focus on the personal safety of any personnel in the vicinity under their surveillance, including workers and occasional visitors at the work site.


The Safety Watch works will be working within an Industrial Refining Facilities performing a variety of safety duties such as:

  • Bottle watch
  • Spark watch
  • Safety watch Rescue watch

Locations may include:


  • Camp jobs within Alberta (accommodation and subsistence provided).
  • Hotel jobs and/or staff housing where we provide you a daily allowance for subsistence.
  • Hours: Dependent on job/client requirements, typically hours. DXP/HSE pays an hourly wage, not an average daily wage. All pay is based on Alberta Employment Standards that include overtime pay for work over 8 hours per day and/or 44 hours per week.

Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Monitor and back up all personnel working under breathing air by having function tested SCBA's readily available for use; watch workers upwind and from a safe distance.
  • Participate in the daily safety meetings.
  • Set up and maintain HSE Integrated safety equipment as described in specific procedures, including the inspection of equipment at the beginning of each shift.
  • Ensure that appropriate PPE is being worn at all times.
  • Participate in all client site and prejob meetings.
  • Keep an accurate head count of all personnel on location.
  • Ensure that work areas under employee responsibility appear professional and are in good repair.
  • Provide support in the shop, to complete maintenance and turnaround procedures, including cleaning and repairing equipment and prepping air trailers for use.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with all personnel in the work area
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed timely manner
  • Know the whereabouts of all safety equipment on site Perform all HSE Integrated assigned safety watch duties on site, other duties will be assigned as necessary

Qualifications

  • Local to the Edmonton Metropolitan Area
  • Physically capable of performing the following tasks, as this is position requires the following:
  • Working at heights and / or climbing ladders
  • You must be comfortable with heights, and able to climb ladders.
  • Working in small / confined spaces
  • Lifting up to 50lbs
  • Pushing / pulling (tools / objects)
  • Sitting / driving
  • Bending / kneeling / crouching
  • Standing / walking for long periods of time Working in adverse weather environments (heat / cold) and conditions (rain / wind).

Required Certifications & Training

You must have the following certificated to be considered:

  • Successful completion of our core competencies onboarding.
  • CSTS (preferred)
  • CSO (preferred)
  • H2S Alive from Energy Safety Canada (preferred)
  • Standard First Aid & CPR (preferred)
  • You must be able to pass a Drug and Alcohol testing, audio testing and fit test.
  • Applicants are required to be 18+ years old and eligible to work in Canada.
  • You must have proficiency in communicating and understanding English.
