Reporting to the Production Superintendent, is responsible for supervising hourly unionized employees and providing effective leadership in the safe, environmentally sound and cost efficient operation of ready-mix plant.

Responsibilities also include maintaining a professional and harmonious relationship with customers, and all other departments that have contact with him/her during the normal course of business.

Position Responsibilities (key duties, scope of position, goals, expectations, skill requirements, travel requirements):


Compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the CRH OH&S Program

  • Promote and support company programs, policies and practices
  • Supervise hourly unionized employees providing effective leadership in the safe, environmentally sound and cost efficient operation of readymix plant.
  • Understand and operate in accordance with company programs, policies and legislative requirements to ensure that environmental standards and performance objective targets are met.
  • Batch concrete using MPAQ system and provide various management reports on a timely and accurate basis as required
  • Maintain material inventories in batch computer, goods receipt and send the file nightly to host computer
  • Monitor and order the appropriate amounts of cement, aggregates, admixtures, and specialty products as required on a daily basis
  • Ensure that customers receive timely deliveries by batching loads within correct specified tolerances, slumps, etc
  • Maintain and monitor plant performance, visually checking cylinders, oilers, etc. and reporting necessary repairs to the plant supervisor/manager
  • Maintain optimum levels of customer service by effectively handling customer inquiries and concerns in a timely manner
  • Provide various management reports on a timely and accurate basis as required
  • Performed standard concrete field tests as per project requirements and ensure raw materials are in specification. ACI trained would be an asset
  • Perform ALL other activities related to the function, or department as assigned

Educational Criteria:
University/College education or similar combination of education, training and work experience in the concrete and/or construction industry

Other Related Experiences Required or Preferred:
Previous supervision experience

  • Must be flexible to work various shifts, weekends and holidays.
  • Familiarity with equipment, technology and processes related to the readymix concrete industry
  • Working knowledge of Collective Agreements
  • Sound knowledge of OH&S policies, procedures and regulations
  • Knowledge of concrete, construction and transportation industry and regulations
