Academy of Modern Art (AOMA) is a reputable Vancouver-based after-school art education institution dedicated to transitioning art and design students to their post-secondary school of choice and strongly supports students' personal development.

- Positively impact the community by creating a welcoming environment for students and families
- Provide instruction in drawing and painting to a wide range of age groups and skill levels, particularly for teens
- Help students achieve specific learning objectives and improve their foundational art skills, gaining an understanding of the elements of art and the principles of design while having fun and exploring art materials
- Plan and implement an appropriate instructional curriculum with lesson plans that guide and encourage students to develop and fulfill their artistic potential
- Class projects developed must be designed to illustrate and promote a child's artistic improvement, thus motivating the student and impressing the parents
- Develop updated course outlines, content, lesson plans, and instructional materials, including providing any supply list for the teaching class
- Engage students in their learning, motivating them with enthusiastic and imaginative presentations and projects
- Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and write student review summaries for each term
- Follow the policies, regulations, and procedures of AOMA
What you will bring:
- A certificate or Bachelor's degree or above from a recognized fine arts institution
- Experienced as a working professional or freelance artist
- Minimum 3 years experience teaching art courses, especially painting, to kids and youth
- Excellent communication, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
- Must have patience with and a passion for teaching kids and youth
- Available to work flexible hours
- Available to assist with school art exhibitions or other extracurricular art activities as needed
- Ability to effectively communicate professionally with students
- Selfmotivated yet customerfocused
Job Types:
Part-time, Fixed term contract
