JOB CONTEXT

  • The values of the organization require that all positions support the mission and initiatives of LutherCare Communities (LCC). The GH Coordinator is responsible for the overall running of the home and ensuring that the residents have a high quality of life. This can be maintained through effective program plans and a friendly and reliable staff. The GH Coordinator is responsible for administering all medication treatments/interventions as trained by professionals as well as to ensure all staff have been trained appropriately.
    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

General Duties

  • Ensure the group home is operated efficiently and effectively.
  • Keep General Manager and Operations Manager apprised of major issues in the group home.
  • Provide medical support such as medication administration, tube feeding, and other therapies as prescribed by professionals.
  • Provide physical support such a physiotherapy, respiratory therapy, and bowel care routines.
  • Provide personal support such as attending appointments, following recommendations and meeting needs of the residents.
  • Provide monthly and annual statistical and narrative reports as required.
  • Responsible for weekend on call responsibilities.
  • Abide by Policies and Procedure of LutherCare Communities.

Program Management Duties

  • Participate in admission/discharge meetings.
  • Coordinate with families, staff, and other agencies in preparation for program planning
  • Ensure each resident has an accurate, up to date resident care plan implemented
  • Ensure that staff implements the resident care plan according to the details of the plan.
  • Monitor the resident care plans and associated records, documents, and make changes to the care plan as deemed necessary.
  • Ensure that program standards noted in the CLSD service agreements are meets.

3. Financial Management Duties

  • In conjunction with the General Manager, develop and manage the group home budget.
  • Monitor budgeted expenditures to monthly financial reports and provide necessary information to the General Manager where variances occur.

4. Human Resource Management Duties

  • Ensures all staff are adequately trained and up to date with all requirements.
  • Schedule staff and ensure that adequate staff coverage is available in the group home.
  • Make changes to payroll data as necessary and ensure staff are paid correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Stay up to date with the Saskatchewan Employment Act and legislative changes.

5. Physical Plant Management

  • Ensure general maintenance of the home is met and make the necessary arrangements for repairs.
  • Ensure that the standards set in place by public health and fire inspectors are met.
  • Ensure that all equipment is in good working order and make the necessary arrangements for repairs.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE POSITION & ORGANIZATION

Qualifications

  • Grade 1
  • Disability Support Worker Certificate, Continuing Care Assistant or equivalent training in a related field is required.
  • CLSD Level 3 in writing behavior support plans preferred.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Sign language is desirable.

Experience:


  • Three to five years of management experience working with cognitively and/or physically challenged adults in a residential or vocational setting.
  • Experience in the design of developmental programming and behavioral interventions.
  • Experience working with residents with high medical needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Fluently able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Excellent administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Established ability to work effectively with adults with cognitive and physical disabilities.
  • Effective skills in human resource management and supervision
  • Significant ability to manage a budget and assist in the development.
  • Effectively addresses concerns of residents/ clients, relatives, staff, and advocacy groups.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets and accounting programs including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Effectively demonstrates sound judgment in decision making and problem solving.
